Magnificent Mess is a standalone, meaning it has no other books related to it.
You can read any of the books in the Something Resembling or The Holidays in Hamilton series in any order, but I recommend the order shown on each series page.
Yes. And no.
Magnificent Mess is largely fade to black. It was the first book I wrote, when I was still reading a lot of Nora Robert (all hail the Queen), and before I discovered steamier stories and full on spice.
Then, I left my fairly sheltered 20s behind. And started writing with more heat. While my books will never be erotica, there will almost always be on page intimacy.
The Weight of Inheritance, the free book you get when you sign up for my newsletter, is also very clean. But frankly, that was more a function of the short story.
Why, if I’m writing women’s fiction, is there spice and body parts? Well because I’m a woman who happens to like those things in her own life. And because our lives, our relationships, aren’t full and complete without it. You can have a relationship or a marriage without smexy times, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
That’s why I call what I write “modern women’s fiction”. I enjoy books with all spice levels, and I totally get that some readers want their stories to be all about the path the characters take. I have been in the “I’m on an emotional journey” path in my own life.
But, real life is more than just our career, our family relationships, our friends, or our pets (as much as we love our furry friends). So that’s what you’ll find — all the things you experience in the real world. Messy feelings, bossy bosses, self doubt, and winding paths. Except maybe with a more fulfilling resolution, even when it’s not tied up with a perfect bow.
I’m writing it as fast as I can! I aim to have Something Resembling (working title: Marriage) published fall 2026.
